I wanted to post a quick update to say that my posts will likely become a little more erratic and less frequent for a while as I prepare for the arrival of my little one. I’m getting very close to my due date and doing my best to wrap up some loose ends at work and at home before he makes his appearance. I do plan to continue blogging, but the schedule will probably look a little different for a while. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll subscribe so you can follow me on this journey!
In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to do an open thread of YOUR advice. Readers who have kids, what are your words of wisdom for brand new parents? Share them in the comments below!
Sometimes, parenting books and blogs can be really helpful. Most of the time, though, even the “experts” don’t know *your* particular baby, so if you turn to these resources for advice, glean what seems helpful and ignore the rest. There is no one right way to get your baby to sleep, or eat, stop crying, whatever. Every single child is different, and you know your baby better than experts. Trust your instincts, don’t feel guilty for doing what works for you, and remember – you cannot spoil a baby by holding too much, nursing too much (if applicable), etc. I am so excited for you and E!!!
Great advice! Thank you!
Ask for help! It’s a huge adjustment, and it’s ok to be overwhelmed. And it’s also ok to say no – no, I don’t want visitors during flu season; no, I don’t want your advice; no, you may not touch my baby. Find a mom tribe… we’ve been there, done that. We have tricks. 😉
This sounds very wise 🙂 Fortunately, we already have some help lined up for the first two months…thank goodness for grandmas!
I don’t have kids, so I can’t give you advices… but I’m very excited about D! Enjoy the journey!
Thank you, Mayra! <3
