What Is This Blog About?

Double rainbow over Niagara Falls

When I mention Alexigraph to people who haven’t read it, they often ask, “What’s it about?”  When I decided to start blogging, I had a general idea of the topics that I would cover, but I hadn’t fully crystallized my vision for the site.  Now that I’ve been posting for about a month and a half, I can offer a clearer image.

I’ve always known what Alexigraph isn’t.  It isn’t a fashion blog, or a beauty blog, or a travel blog.  It isn’t about politics or current events.  It isn’t about crafts, or cooking, or any one specific hobby or pursuit.  When I have to select a description from a drop-down menu, I usually land on “lifestyle blog.”  That’s an okay fit, but I think Alexigraph is about more than just a lifestyle.

Most of my posts fit into one of three broad categories:

Creative Living. Engagement. Self-Improvement.

As I’ve transitioned from adolescence into adulthood, from one career to another, through various relationships, difficulties, and life stages, I’ve had many opportunities to learn, grow, and better myself.  My posts often reflect on things that I’ve discovered along the way.  I want to share these lessons with you, and I hope you’ll teach me things as well.  I hope the essays on this blog will be starting points for important conversations and an exchange of ideas.

Alexigraph is meant to be a site for thinkers and doers, for people always looking to improve their lives, for those who seek new perspectives.  It aims to help readers be more engaged with the world around them, deepen relationships, become more effective, and craft lives that are full of meaning and joy.

I want to know what you think so far.  It’s helpful for me to hear which posts have resonated with you, which topics interest you, and whether you like the weekly features (Quote of the Week on Mondays and The Weekend Listen on Fridays).  What suggestions do you have?

As Alexigraph continues to grow, I’m considering adding a few new semi-regular features.  I’d like to share interviews with interesting people who are doing innovative things in the realm of creative living.  I’d like to incorporate occasional guest posts to add more diverse perspectives.  If there’s enough interest, I might do a weekly or monthly “Ask Alexis” advice column.

What are your thoughts on these ideas?  Please share your reactions in the comments, or if you’d prefer to share them privately, you can email me through the comment form in the menu bar.

Thanks so much for reading Alexigraph and sharing it with your friends, family, and colleagues!

With gratitude,

Alexis
